According to the Gartner analysts, by the time 2010 draws to an end, more than 100 crore people worldwide would have access to mobile devices that support full-featured multimedia and online content, creating more potential for mobile commerce and integration of the portability factor of such devices with the Web. The analysts went on to further lay stress on the importance of applications that used the consumer’s location and profile to improve his/her experience and also allowed commercial entities to interact with them better. The analysts stressed that such applications developed by enterprises would serve the consumers better than simply having a presence on the Web.
While, its clear that mobile technology is growing at an unfettered pace in India, we'll have to wait and see how much of the "commercial potential" is tapped through applications in 2011.
