RIM announces Blackberry 3G Curve 9300
Research In Motion has added entry-level 3G Blackberry Curve 9300 smartphone to its line-up. The 3G Curve 9300 comes with BlackBerry 5 operating system as standard, but can be upgraded to the more powerful and easier-to-use version 6 - announced recently.
The 3G Curve replaces Curve 8520 with a faster 624-MHz processor, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and 3G HSDPA Internet connectivity. It has a 2.4-inch, 320-by-240 screen and 2-megapixel camera.
Curve models currently rely on the slower GPRS network for wireless connectivity on the move when WiFi is not available.
The Canadian smartphone maker said that the new Curve 3G - which includes a Qwerty keypad, trackpad navigation and built-in GPS - will hit retail shops in the US this month.
Mike Lazaridis, president of BlackBerry maker Research in Motion said that the majority of people have yet to buy their first smartphone and the BlackBerry Curve 3G is designed to provide an extremely attractive and accessible choice that will help convince many of them to make the leap.
US network carrier T-Mobile will offer Curve 3G in two colors: smoky violet and graphite gray.
No price has been yet confirmed for BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G.
